New Empowering Day Camp For Kids In San Fernando Valley

Golden State Lifeguards is always seeking to empower the community however our passion has been and is about focusing on kids. We have developed a new kids day camp that is coming to the San Fernando Valley in January 2018. We believe that kids can be lifesavers and not just bystanders! Early feedback indicates that spaces will fill up fast and as a result the camp will be offered on Saturdays with 4 hours of interactive instruction by lifeguard/medics.

Camp “LIFESAVERS” is a youth oriented program for kids ages 9 to 12 years old that will teach the basics of first aid and hands-only CPR. There are plenty of stories which illustrate how kids have saved lives by initiating CPR or even saving another from drowning. Additionally the camp will offer subjects such as “see something, say something” and “how and when to call 911″. The idea is to get kids thinking that they too can save a life despite their age or size. They need to be taught that they too can accomplish anything just like adults.

Eventually the camp could grow into a four week series with different subjects being taught in each session.

Other components of the camp that appeal to moms and dads is the fact that the kids can meet local heroes and ask them questions about their jobs. We seek to invite local firefighters, police and other professionals to come out with their vehicles and equipment for a show/tell session.  This may encourage kids to want to be a firefighter, police officer or even an ocean lifeguard. Kids need good role models unlike many of the entertainment figures who only use their influence to spread hate and other types of garbage.

The camp will begin on January 4th, 2018. It will start at 8:00am and conclude at 11:30am with lunch served from 11:30am to 12:00pm. The cost for campers will be $35.00 per child which includes a beautiful certificate of completion. Kids will enjoy pizza & drinks from a local West San Fernando Valley pizza restaurant.
